UAE claims that beginning on February 15 any gatherings serving alcohol require CID authorisation

For all UAE events, new alcohol regulations will be implemented.

The UAE is making a change to alcohol rules in the country.

Starting on February 15 any corporate or private events in the UAE serving alcohol will require a mandatory CID alcohol permit, according to a circular seen by Arabian Business.

The CID alcohol permit can be applied for by the hotel on behalf of the event organizer or client as long as a fee is paid.

The fee for the CID alcohol permit will be AED1,250 per event and per day.

UAE alcohol rules at events changed

All events, both commercial and non-commercial, must apply for the permit in advance says the circular.

The permit must be applied for at least 14 days in advance of the event.

The circular states that all events, both commercial and non-commercial, must submit an application for the permit in advance.

The application for the permit must be submitted at least 14 days before the event.

The following paperwork is required in order to submit an application for a CID alcohol permit:

  1. Valid Emirates ID
  2. DET permission (based on the kind of event or entertainment given by the hotel)

“The hotel’s obligation to secure CID Alcohol Permit to serve alcohol for the event is conditional upon the UAE CID and DET regulatory requirements and laws then prevailing, submission of required documentation, and payment of CID Permit,” reads the circular distributed to venues in the United Arab Emirates.
